Ballet Slippers

My friend Allie wrote me saying:

"...in other inane news, i got a manicure last night with the color "ballet slippers."

I had no idea that ballet slippers was a color...or were a color...or were colors...

I'm listening to "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang as I write this, and you can't stop me.

A is for Annoying

About a month ago, I moved into a new apartment with a friend of mine from college. Prior to that, I had lived by myself in a small, but quaint studio apartment, but that's irrelevant. My new apartment building has a little keypad and speaker by the main door that friends and delivery persons and other visitors can use to call up to be buzzed in. A screen by the keypad cycles through a list of names and the appropriate number to dial. In the directory, my name is mispelled. An unfortunate, dastardly little A has been substituted for the appropriate U. For some reason, this has pissed me off to no end. I've called the building management company to fix the problem, but they have not yet done anything. That A is evil. It's Hester Prynne's scarlet letter, emblazoned on my apartment directory, and burned into my brain. Maybe I should just call the management company again.

I just spent the past 45 minutes reading through blog archives, and mind you I'm at work, and it's late, and I should be going home.

I'm beginning to notice a blog hierarchy based on my readings and perusals so far. I'm ashamed to admit that I currently sit on the low end of the totem pole. Yeah, I'm the gargoyle-dude on the bottom. Eagles and bears are on my shoulders, wings spread and jaws agape, flaunting their writing prowess.

I do relish a challenge though. Slowly, but steadily plotting to improve my prose...
