I had a wonderful Thanksgiving day filled with a cornucopia of culinary creations that would make Julia Child green with envy. I was overcome by a wave of fall feasting: Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Squash, Cranberry Sauce, Pumpkin Pie, etc. etc. A Thursday afternoon coma dragged me down to sub-consciousness, and most of the day was a blur of food, football, and napping.
In spite of my state of semi-awareness, I did participate in a rousing conversation of an unorthodox nature. For reasons unbeknownst to me, the topic of discussion post-gnoshing seemed to center around all things scatological. There were stories of pets past who in the throes of youth and exuberance sullied various articles of clothing, including a well-placed gift that was once discovered in someone's shoe. Other tales revolved around the different odd places that people had urinated as wee lads and lasses. The most notable non-salle-de-bain destinations included, inexplicably, a silverware drawer and a pumpkin pie. I'm happy to report that my own personal history is devoid of such inscrutable behavior, at least to my knowledge.
Despite, or perhaps because of the bizarre nature of the afternoons proceedings, Thursday the 28th was another memorable Thanksgiving day.

GIVING THANKS
In the spirit of the holiday season, (and in keeping with my modus operandi of plagiarizing ideas for my posts from others that I have read) here is a short list of the things that I am thankful for.
5. I have no plans to venture out into the maelstrom of frenzied shoppers on the "busiest shopping day of the year."
4. A beautiful blanket of clean white snow has turned Boston into a winter wonderland.
3. I am not allergic to turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, or any sort of pie.
2. Life continues to present me with interesting experiences and challenges with each passing day.
1. I will be spending the Thanksgiving holiday with family.
This is a picture of my nephew, Alex. He is quite amusing. This past weekend, I demonstrated the magic of static electricity to him by rubbing a balloon on my shirt and making his hair stand up on end, because that's the sort of thing that uncles like to do. Next up is pulling quarters out of his ears and doing that trick where I make it look like I'm pulling my thumb off of my hand.
