AN ANOMALY OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS

I'm sitting here at my desk at work on Saturday, and in order to break the monotony, I decided to check for comments on I/S. As I was typing in the address for my site, I accidentally inputted the URL "http://inspirationstrikes.blogPSot.com" instead of blogSPot.com. Much to my surprise, a bible studies site called Aarons Bible popped up.

Now I thought to myself, did this organization think that my site was getting so much traffic that they adopted a slight permutation of the I/S moniker in the hopes of capturing more hits? Wow, I must be getting really popular!

Before getting too far ahead of myself, I checked some other sites. Apparently anysite.blogPSot.com will direct you to the "Aarons Bible" website.

To those of you who reached my site in error, there are no bibles for sale here.

"SOMETIMES I DO WHAT I WANT TO DO. MOST OF THE TIME, I DO WHAT I HAVE TO DO."

The problem with client services is that you have to care about the client's problems. Or at least feel comfortable pretending you do.

DENTAL HIJINKS

Tomorrow morning, I have a regularly scheduled 6-month dental cleaning/checkup. In contrast to my experience as a kid, I've come to enjoy these little visits. Free floss, free toothbrush and my teeth get polished to a high-gloss shine.

But the best part is the conversation:

Hygienist: "So Matt, how is the New Year treating you?"
Matt: "Ong oool oo. Ah ooo raaa."
Hygienist: "You don't say."
Matt: "Gaaa eeah oohh."
Hygienist: "I agree with you one hundred percent...Spit."

MILDLY AMUSING EXCERPTS FROM LAST NIGHT'S DINNER CONVERSATION
.
BA: "That's the worst birthday speech I've ever heard."
.
RT: "My TV stand doesn't have a TV on it yet."
DB (angrily): "Why isn't there any beer on your TV stand?"
JK: "Why would there be beer on his TV stand?"
DB: "Because it's a flat surface."
.
JK: "I love cheese. I'm a member of the cheese of the month club."
.
BA: "PlayStation2 is like my heroin. I think I'm addicted to Grand Theft Auto, Vice City...Hey Dave, maybe you should bludgeon Matt in his sleep with a golf club."
Me: "I think that game may be eroding your sense of morality."

MILESTONES

Note: There is no mention of breasts in this post.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Ben proposed to his girlfriend, now fiancee. Ben is a guy who we used to call "Captain Stinky-Nuts."

On Christmas night, my sister gave birth to twins. She used to give me "wet willys" and the dead finger.

On New Year's Eve, my brother's daughter turned one year old. My brother and I used to ride bikes all summer long.

Yesterday, my friend Jeb asked me to be a groomsman in his wedding, which is set for next January. I once saw Jeb eat a jar of fudge sauce after a night of drinking.

Today is my friend Dave's 26th birthday. At parties in a former life, Dave had a penchant for gyrating like Elvis on crack within circles of women.

Sometimes I feel a bit like Peter Pan, sailing through life without pockets. Then, I look around and I count all of the milestones by the side of the road.
My how the time flies.

"Mmmm...BOOOOBIES."

I know this makes two posts in a row referring to bosoms, but I just wanted to point out an observation that I made several weeks ago and at the time neglected to post. From time to time, people reach I/S from other sites and occasionally from the comments that I've posted on other blogs. One time in particular, the illustrious dooce posted something that mentioned Britney Spears' mammaries. I, being a debonair denizen of the Internet intelligentsia, commented,

"mmmm...boooobies."

The day of that particular post, dozens of visitors flocked to this site from that comment, wondering what sophisticated mind could develop such witty repartee. What (if anything) does that say about the world of web surfers?

SOMETIMES THE BEST PICTURES ARE THE ONES YOU ONLY HALF REMEMBER BEING TAKEN...

My friend Andy hosted a New Year's party at his apartment in the North End. He recently showed me a series of entertaining and mildly incriminating pictures from the event:
-- Like the one where I'm making monkey faces and pointing at the camera,
-- Or the group shot where my arm encircles the waist of an attractive young lass, hand tantalizingly close to her bosom,
-- Or the one where I'm "dancing" and appear to be doing "the robot."
If I had digital copies I'd post them, but you'll just have to use your imagination.

NEW YEAR'S IRRESOLUTION

This year, I thought it would be fun to make a series of resolutions that would be easier to keep. Lofty aspirations such as resolving to, "more actively point out the shortcomings of others," and "watch more professional sports on television," or "become more adept at surreptitiously ogling the curves of attractive women ." Is it better to aim low and achieve your goals, or aim too high and fall short?

I ended up making some of the typical resolutions surrounding eating and exercise habits. To encourage the latter self-covenant, this weekend I sashayed over to City Sports. There I bought some new training garb, including a "Dri-Fit" jersey. At the risk of sounding like a commercial, the technology is amazing. I went for a run last night, and though I'm sure I was doing a lot of sweating, the new clothes wicked away my perspiration, keeping me dry and comfortable.

Soon they'll have clothes that will do all of the exercising for me. Well, one can hope.
